10 Things You Didn’t Know About Robin Thicke

1. He’s not really a misogynist.

Some feminist groups are up in arms claiming that Thicke’s song “Blurred Lines” is a “rape song” on account of the lyric “I know you want it” being whispered throughout. It turns out, Robin knows the song is “degrading to women” but it’s because, “women and their bodies are beautiful. Men are always gonna want to follow them around.”

2. This is his dad:

That’s right. Jason Seaver from Growing Pains, also known as Alan Thicke, is Robin Thicke’s daddio. America’s favorite dad is Robin’s, too. If you stare at it long enough, squint and tilt your head…yep, you can see it.

3. He has dual citizenship.

Since his dad is a Canadian, Thicke has citizenship both the USA and in America’s top hat.

4. He’s written for just about everyone.

Thicke has written songs for Jennifer Hudson, Usher and Mary J. Blige. He also wrote “When You Put Your Hands On Me” for Christina Aguilera, and was also acknowledged for his work on Lil Wayne‘s Tha Carter III.

5. He’s married.

I know. Bummer, right? But he and his wife, actress Paula Patton, have known each other since they were 16, so that makes is “aawwwwww” worthy, right? They now have a son named Julian who is cute as a button. They’re so beautiful it’s almost irritating.

6. He wrote and was featured on Lil Wayne’s album for the song “Shooter.”

Thicke witnessed an armed robbery, which inspired him to write “Shooter.”

7. Robin is the first white artist in almost 20 years to top the U.S. R&B charts.

The last person to do that was George Michael in 1988.

8. He got signed at 16.

Interscope Records picked up Thicke at a young age. He had taught himself how to play the piano at 12 and honed his craft for the next four years. He went by the name Thicke when he first debuted.

9. His wife was his album cover on “A Beautiful World” in 2002.

Again with the obnoxiously pretty thing.

10. He’s beautiful.

Beyonce’s New Album Isn’t Coming As Soon As We Think, Ne-Yo Claims

Ne-Yo is best known to fans for moody tracks like “Closer” and “Miss Independent,” but some of his biggest successes have actually come from his work as a songwriter for other artists.

The crooner co-penned Beyonce’s 2007 hit “Irreplaceable,” and is now speaking out on his latest work with Bey for her upcoming fifth studio album, expected this year.

“I’m still putting stuff together for Beyonce’s album,” he told Billboard. “They’re still trying to figure out what they want that to be, which I’m not mad at.”

Bey has reportedly been working on the record since last summer when she met with the likes of Ryan Tedder, The-Dream and Sia in the Hamptons to collaborate on potential album material. While the effort is months in the making and remains unscheduled for release, Ne-Yo says it will be worth the wait.

“Beyonce’s the kind of artist where you’re not gonna see it till it’s right,” he said in the interview. “And her fans — they love her so they’ll be patient.”

No official single has been released, but fans have had a taste of what to expect with new tracks appearing in recent Pepsi and H&M commercials, along with a contribution to animated movie Epic‘s soundtrack, “Rise Up.”

Miley Cyrus Lets Her Freak Flag Fly For ‘We Can’t Stop’ Video

Miley Cyrus’ new video is full of freaks just letting their flags fly. There’s the guy making a skull out of French fries. There’s another one eating a money sandwich. And there’s that guy with the two tongues. But it seems Cyrus might be the biggest freak of them all.

No judging here though. Like Miley says on her latest single, we’ll leave that to a higher power.

In the clip for “We Can’t Stop” Cyrus tries her best to make you forget about her Hannah Montana days. She twerks it in skintight white leggings and a matching crop top. She also does a little advertising for Beats By Dre (she’s a fan of the orange Pill portable speakers) and EOS chapsticks. She French kisses a life-size Barbie doll version of herself. And breaks a piñata full of hot dogs and hamburgers. Basically, she’s just being Miley.

‘The Voice’: Cher Wigs Out As Blake Shelton Earns His Third Win

It may have been the season finale of The Voice, but Cher‘s first live performance in five years seemed to be the real main event.

The singer debuted her new single, “Woman’s World,” off her upcoming album Closer To The Truth (out September 24). The upcoming release will be her first in 12 years.

Wearing a neon pink faux-hawk wig that many thought was actually a bird, Cher strutted her stuff in a bondage-style bustier and skinny, skinny leggings as she sang her heart out for the ladies.

Strobe lights pulsated along to the song’s electronic beats as a team of female back-up dancers helped add a little energy to the performance. Watch the clip below.

The performance wasn’t without its hiccups; Cher seemed a little off tempo while singing the chorus. Even the singer took to Twitter to address some of the technical problems on the song.

No matter its problems though, the song, written and produced by Paul Oakenfield, is bound to be a hit in the clubs, picking up where Cher’s 1998 mega-hit single “Believe” left off.

But the night was certainly not all about Cher; it was about crowning the season 4 winner.

He pulled a similar stunt in Paris putting Daft Punk, Phoenix and other heavy-hitters on the same poster.

We should have known, though. Kanye would never be OK with someone billing him fifth. And the show is happening on “Thuesday,” which we’re pretty sure that’s not an actual day.

Hanson Celebrates 21st Anniversary With New Album ‘Anthem’

“You guys have been with us for decades,” Taylor Hanson told a sold-out crowd earlier this week. “This 21 thing is not possible without you guys. What better way to celebrate than throwing our own bash with you?”

Hanson performed a career-spanning, two-hour set during their June 17th birthday show, just one of two nights spent celebrating at NYC’s Irving Plaza. While older tracks like monster hit “MMMBop” and “Lucy” off 1997′s Middle of Nowhere received the most screams, don’t count out 2000′s “This Time Around” and current single “Get The Girl Back” — they were close contenders.

Before Hanson took the stage, tracks from their new album Anthem were played on the speakers and many in the crowd already knew all the words, though the record’s official release date was the following day. The Hanson brothers — Isaac, Taylor, and Zac — told Radio.com that their latest release was aptly titled. Watch our video interview below.

Robin Thicke Under Fire For Steamy Song Lyrics

With great success comes great responsibility…and an unruly amount of flak from feminist groups.

Robin Thicke, the sex machine behind “Blurred Lines,” has over 53 million views on YouTube for his funky, ’70s-esque tune. And there are a few people who are not happy about it, namely the Daily Beast’s Tricia Romano and blogger Lisa Huynh.

Lisa, the Feminist in LA writer ranted, “Has anyone heard Robin Thicke’s new rape song? Basically, the majority of the song…has the R&B singer murmuring ‘I know you want it’ over and over into a girl’s ear. Call me a cynic, but that phrase does not exactly encompass the notion of consent in sexual activity.”

Thicke said in an interview with GQ that, while the song is “degrading to women” it’s because, “women and their bodies are beautiful. Men are always gonna want to follow them around.”

92.3 NOW’s Micki Gamez said, while she is a feminist, some of these groups need to take a breather.

“When I hear the song, it makes me think of my wife, my significant other. I think of my partner when she’s sexy, and she looks hot, and what I want to do to her, with her permission of course,” Micky said. “I don’t by any means think the song is ‘rapey.’ Calm down, bro. Calm down, feminists.”

Maybe with a quick lyric change, some of these comments would be a little more valid.

“If Robin Thicke were saying, ‘You know you want it. No b*tch, you want it and you’re taking it,’ that would be a completely different story, but he doesn’t say that,” Mickey said.

Jay-Z makes announcements in Galaxy spots, but Eminem is taking it to the streets. Late Tuesday night (June 18), he Tweeted out a new track that will be released on DJ Tony Touch’s next mixtape called “Symphony In H.”

Eminem has been absent from the public eye since 2010′s Recovery. This new track is sure to fuel speculation that he’s working on a follow-up. The mixtape is titled PieceMaker 3…Return Of The 50 MCs and is available to preorder on Bandcamp.
