CBS Radio Launches ‘She Can DJ’ Competition
For women who want to break into the world of beats, bass and late nights, the opportunity has arrived.
After running successful programs in Australia and Europe, CBS Radio has decided to team up with Astralwerks to introduce a stateside edition of She Can DJ – America: a nationwide talent search to find the country’s top female DJ/Producer.
The competition will launch in major markets like New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, San Francisco, Houston, Boston, Detroit, Phoenix, San Diego, Charlotte and Las Vegas in July. 12 semi-finalists and one wild-card competitor will be chosen from those cities and compete for the grand prize: a recording contract with Astralwerks, a headline a tour through the CBS Radio markets and more.
“Aspiring female DJ’s/Producers need look no further than She Can DJ for that once in a lifetime chance to captivate an entire industry with their talent,” said CBS Radio Senior Vice President of Programming Greg Strassell in a press release. Competitors will be exposed to millions across the country in a genre that continues to grow in popularity and “CBS Radio looks forward to advancing the genre,” continued Strassell.
