As the old adage goes, “a picture is worth a thousand words.” Unless that picture is of a celebrity’s baby, of course. Tabloids have offered famous couples/single moms millions of dollars over the years for the exclusive first publication of their newborn child. That’s the case for Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, who were reportedly offered $3 million for the photos. Initial reports say the couple have declined that offer, because let’s be honest, pictures of the greatest baby of all time are worth much more.

Let’s take a look at the the babies who brought in the most bucks for their exclusive first photos.

Brangelina brought twins to the cover of People and Hello! in August 2008 for a cool $15 million. That’s $7.5 million per baby, in case you’re not a fan of math.

J-Lo and Marc Anthony brought a pair of newborns to the cover of People several months before Pitt and Jolie did in March of 2008 for $6 million. We aren’t sure how that money was divided up in the divorce.

When you combine two of the most beautiful people of the planet, you’re more than likely to create a child that meets those standards as well. Shiloh was born in Swakopmund, Namibia and the photos were sent to Getty Images. People paid $4.1 million for the baby photos while Hello! obtained the British rights for $3.5 million. All of the profits from the Shiloh pictures went to charities in Africa to benefit children.

OK! Magazine gave Matthew McConaughey and his wife Camila Alves $3 million for Levi’s baby photos in August 2008. We assume that’s $500,000 per ab muscle.

Technically, the photos of Pax Thien Jolie-Pitt weren’t baby photos; he was adopted from an orphanage at three years old. Nonetheless, People still forked over $2 million for them in March of 2007.

2008 was a big years for celebrity baby photos. Christina Aguilera cashed in and took a check from People for $1.5 million, not nearly as much as Brangelina, J-Lo or McConaughey.

Jessica Alba was another parent to cash in during 2008 when she sold Max’s baby photos to OK! for $1.5 million. Seems a bit low for a star like Alba, but she was nominated for three Raspberry Awards for Worst Actress in 2007. Coincidence? Probably not.

It’s about time a Spears baby showed up on this list, but this time it’s Jamie Lynn, not Britney. The younger Spears received $1 million from OK! for July 2008.

Nicole Richie put her Simple Life antics behind her for, well, a simpler life with husband Joel Madden and their two children. People gave them $1 million in February 2008 for photos of first-born Harlow Winter Madden, allowing the young one to begin her lifestyle of the rich and famous.

OK! Magazine paid $575,000 for Stefani-Rossdale baby. Less than a million? Are you kidding? Look at that dapper little fellow!

Sean Preston Federline

Britney Spears and K-Fed only received $500,000 from People in November 2005. This was pre-head shave Britney, so we’ll attribute this to the Federline DNA.
