The incredibly bubbly Kat DeLuna stopped by 92.3 NOW studios yesterday for a little a bit of girl chat with Eutopia about her new look, new album and her two latest singles, one of which happens to be her very first Spanish language single, “Sobredosis.”

“Kat is one of the cutest and sweetest people ever,” said Eutopia. “I can’t believe she’s from the Bronx (just kidding BX you know I love you)!”

Kat is currently promoting her sophomore album, “Viva Out Loud,” along with the first “American single,” as Kat puts it, “Wanna See U Dance (La La La)” and her latest Spanish single “Sobredosis” featuring El Cata.

“‘Viva Out Loud’ … has a lot of colors in it,” says Kat. “If you liked the first [album] you’re gonna love my second, American, album.”

“The album is going to take my ‘Lunatics’ to another place,” continued Kat. “Yeah I have a Kat DeLuna formula, which is very pop infused with Latin sounds, but I have some more obscure sounds and I’ve been playing around with this new version of Dubstep.”

“I’m a little bit of a lot of stuff… from the Bronx, Dominicana, Americana… I also finished growing up in”Brick City” – Newark, NJ… there’s a lot of components to Kathleen the artist,” she says. “And I bring that to the table!”

Switching gears to fashion, Kat remembers the first time she went to Japan and was amazed by all of the colorful and crazy style that eventually, a few years later, made it’s way to the states.

“I notice a lot of the fashion influences that you think have never been done before… it comes from Japan. They’ve been doing the whole colorful hair, crazy eyes… the crazy nail art has been there for five years!”

Kat feels she owes a lot to Japanese fashion culture and defines her own style as a mix of “japanese girly slash kind of like steampunk… mixed in with a little bit the Bronx, Jersey… and you guys are gonna hear that in my music.”

Looking forward to one of her favorite holidays, Kat plans on taking her “Steampunk style” to the next level by dressing as either a sexy crow, or a “Goth Mermaid.”

Kat defends her gothic tendencies: “Goth is not negative. As long as you put the sexy to it, it’s alright!”

We’re looking forward to the photos, Kat!
