The music, food and fun of 2011′s inaugural Governors Ball Music Festival was too much to pack into one day that it will make its return in 2012 for two full days this Summer.
Setting up shop on Randall’s Island for the 23rd and 24th of June, New York City now has a music festival that rivals any from across the country. With a combination of big name acts mixed with up and coming artists, mouthwatering eats from the best food trucks in the Big Apple and fun activities, the Governors Ball is a can’t miss event this summer.
Saturday’s lineup features artists that specialize in making your body move to the beat. Some of the acts on tap for the 23rd are electropop band Passion Pit, the Canadian electrofunk duo Chromeo, and hip hop mainstays Atmosphere.
The DJ duo of Armand Van Helden and A-Trak, known as Duck Sauce, will be there as well. You might remember them from their music video for “Big Bad Wolf,” which was probably the craziest video of 2011.
Sunday the 24th showcases longtime indie rockers Modest Mouse, New York City’s own Fiona Apple, and Cage The Elephant, who are always know for their high energy stage performances.
Headlining the festival on Sunday will be Beck, who came to prominence in the 1990s and hasn’t stopped “folking” around since. Just imagine yourself singing along to his iconic 90s anthem “Loser” as the sun goes down over New York City.
