Last year, Drake released probably one of the most covered songs in America with “Marvin’s Room.” Remakes can be heard by artists such as Lil Wayne, Chris Brown, and the one and only Justin Bieber.

But before any beat drops, we hear a woman on one side of a phone conversation. Drake’s response: “I’m just sayin’ you can do better”

Hopefully Erika Lee, the voice on the other line will be doing better. She has come forward and is now suing Drake for not including her in the co-writer royalties. She also claims that the two did more than work on a song together. The two were allegedly involved in a romantic relationship (scandalous!).

Lee claims that during their time together, they traded poems and songs and often spoke about making sweet music with each other. It was agreed that they would work on “Marvin’s Room” together and split the proceeds. It was also agreed that Erika would speak the opening of the song that set up the story about how Drake’s fame evoked his inner, drunken desire for his ex as the walls of fame and fortune got in his way. “Plaintiff’s contribution is highly significant to the overall work,” says the complaint.

Shortly after the song was released, the sweet music makin’ and poem tradin’ relationship ended.  Lee then reports that they were supposed to meet to discuss the following issues but it never happened.  According to the complaint, Drake was so kind to send her a text message that offered her 2 percent of “publishing royalties.”

Two percent?! That sh*t cray!

Erika Lee also claims to have received threatening phone calls from Drizzy. “What the f–k is your problem?” he said to her and  then offered her “4-5%” of publishing monies and $50,000 to stay out of his business.

Classy Drake, real classy.

She refused the offer, being that the hit has gotten over thirty-nine million views on YouTube and can be heard all over the radio (I don’t blame her).  Lee is definitely not stopping at $50,000– she has hired Neville Johnson, who previously filed a lawsuit against  Drizzy for sampling an unauthorized sound recording in his other hit  “Best I Ever Had.”

So what does Mr. Young Money have to say for himself? No comment.
