OK, so I know the Smurfs have NOTHING to do with theater or what I usually write about but since this is officially Smurfs Week NYC and I caught the advance screening of The Smurfs 3D last night, I found it appropriate to show some Smurf-tastic lovin’ to everyone’s little blue friends. Read on to find out my thoughts on the movie as well as everything Smurf going on in the city today and tomorrow!

Let’s start with the movie that officially hits theaters tomorrow…

If you’re under the age of 12, you’re going to LOVE IT! Anyone 13 and above needs to be accompanied by a tween or child or you may find yourself blue with boredom. Going into the movie, I thought it would be along the lines of a Pixar flick where adults can be just as entertained as the kids… that wasn’t the case here. I counted one, maybe two times where only the adults laughed; my favorite line was when the lost Smurfs were talking about all the Smurfs back home that they missed: “I don’t really miss Passive-Aggressive Smurf… he always makes you feel good but then you feel bad as soon as he leaves!”. LOL The kids in the theater, on the other hand, LOVED the movie.

Better strap on your 3D glasses…

I knew my Bieber NSN 3D glasses would come in handy again!

It’s a simple story: You start in Smurf-land, Gargamel wants to kill all the Smurfs, Papa Smurf is REALLY chill, the most popular Smurfs fall into a magical vortex that lands them in Central Park, Gargamel follows and tries to capture them. It’s silly fun with lots of singing and family fun. Cool parts that I enjoyed were seeing the city as the backdrop of the movie, Neil Patrick Harris and Sofia Vergara from Modern Family… I just really enjoy both of them. Neil plays the business man that the Smurfs friend while in the city and Sofia plays his evil boss that runs a cosmetic company. Another really funny part about the movie that brought a lot of laughs was Gargamel’s CAT… FUNNY.

All and all, a really cute movie but don’t gather your single girlfriends this weekend and plan on smurfin’ it up. Take the kids and if you don’t have any, go see Horrible Bosses.

If you do have kids or are a huge Smurfs fan, this week is officially Smurf Week NYC and there are lots of smurfin’ cool things to do around town today and tomorrow.

Here’s the rundown for you…
