The toxicology results won’t be available for a few more weeks, but until then [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Amy Winehouse[/lastfm]‘s parents think their daughter died from alcohol withdrawal.

Amy has had a long and colorful past with substance abuse, but in recent years she’s tried cleaning up her life and body. Including nixing the juice.

During his eulogy for his daughter, according Britain’s The Sun, Mitch Winehouse discussed Amy’s recent decision to quit drinking cold-turkey, “He said doctors had told Amy to gradually reduce her intake of alcohol and to avoid bingeing at all costs. Amy told him she couldn’t do that. It was all or nothing and she gave up completely.”  A source told the British tabloid, “Mitch said the shock of giving up, after everything she had been through over a bad few years, was just too much for her to take.”

No doubt that Amy’s body was seriously ravaged by years of abuse, but this definitely seems like a grief stricken dad wanting to believe the best of his daughter.
