Vanilla Ice, aka Rob Van Winkle, sees a lot of himself in [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Justin Bieber[/lastfm]. And by that he means that he thinks the Biebster’s 15-minutes are almost up.
‘Memba him? Prolly not…
In an interview with The Huffington Post, Winkle compared his own career with that of our young Canadian friend:
“I mean, I did ‘Ice Ice Baby’ when I was 16. So I can kind of relate a bit,” he says. “Sold over a hundred million records. And I had a weekend that lasted about three years, and I didn’t know who I was, what’s my purpose in life.”
His words of wisdom continued, “So my prediction about Bieber is that he’s going to go through one of those weekends that lasts a few years because he’s had such success as a child act,” said the Ice Man. “You know, then something else new will come along and he’ll be forgotten and he can try to put all the pieces back together, so it’s going to be entertaining to watch.”
Is Vanilla Ice looking forward to watching Justin’s downfall? That’s pretty harsh. Dude you’re 43, don’t you have something better to do than plot the demise of a 17-year-old pop star?
I think Van Winkle’s a bit sad that epic lyrics like “Light-up a stage and wax a chump like a candle” just aren’t relevant anymore.
Since there hasn’t been any Vanilla Ice news since, like, the ’90s…
