Rapper [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Lil Wayne[/lastfm] is usually seen behind big screens with a large spotlight whenever he is performing. However, this time around his fans will see a more intimate side of Weezy.
The Young Money CEO is taking part in the first MTV Unplugged peformance featuring a hip hop artist since 2002, which will place him among greats like [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Jay-Z[/lastfm], [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]LL Cool J[/lastfm], [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Lauren Hill[/lastfm] and [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Nas[/lastfm].
In an interview with MTV‘s Sway, Weezy says that he’ll be riding solo for his Unplugged performance. In other words – don’t expect any featured performances. “If they are not Young Money and they are just an artist that I’ve done a song with and they’re in the town that night and they ask, ‘Can I come out?’ Say, ‘Yeah,’” he said. “But if you go to a Lil Wayne show and you’re a real Lil Wayne fan, you’ll know… He’s up there from start to finish by his self.”
Huh? Here, you try to figure it out…
Check out a couple more quick interview snippets about the upcoming show, and also have a look at some of MTV’s photos from the performance.
Don’t miss “MTV2 Presents: Lil Wayne Unplugged,” premiering THIS Sunday (June 12th) at 9PM ET/PT on MTV2, MTV and MTV.com.
