Rapper Big Boi has joined EVERY other parent out there trying to make their child’s Sweet 16 the most memorable occasion of their lives… until their massive wedding, of course. However, the Outkast frontman is not looking to buy just any gift, especially not one that you could find in stores. No way!!
Big Boi has decided to give his daughter a record label for her birthday!
The father (who already heads the Purple Ribbon All-Stars label) and daughter duo will launch the new record label, Purple Kidz, together and will feature a roster of younger artists targeting fans of all ages.
WOW! Now that’s different!
Purple Kidz’ first artist is said to be 12-year-old singing prodigy Gabbie Rae.
Willow Smith better watch her back!
In a recent interview with Billboard Magazine, Big Boi believes it was a smart choice regarding his daughters’ future.
“My daughter just turned 16-years-old, and you can see it on MTV’s ['My Super Sweet Sixteen'], where they get cars, and things that depreciate and just don’t mean nothing. I wanted to give my child something that she can grow and build and nurture. So I gave her her own label.”
So true! I don’t know any parent that wouldn’t want their child to be an entrepreneur and bring in some money of their own. I’m pretty sure that you spoil your daughter 365 days a year, so what’s another birthday?
What do you think of Big Boi’s gift to his daughter? If you could get one gift for your Sweet 16 what would it be? Let us know in the comments section below!
