Top 10 Awful Movies Featuring Pop Artists

Throughout the history of film there have been many musical artists who have mastered the ability to produce great albums AND blockbuster movies. These ten however are the ones that came up short… REAL short!

Here’s our list of the top ten worst movies featuring pop artists…

[lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Beyonce[/lastfm] continues to try to prove her talents as a lead actress in dramatic roles but this film didn’t do her claim any justice. The singer seemed too unrealistic throughout the entire movie, especially the ending fight scene. My favorite part from the film was Beyonce‘s threatening message of “You think you know crazy? I’ll show you crazy”

February 15th, 2002

[lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Britney Spears[/lastfm] made her acting debut starring in the “coming of age” film Crossroads – playing a recent High School graduate ready to find out what the world has to offer. I really think Britney should have left the acting to her sister and let her represent the family name in that regard.

October 6th, 2006

Employee of the Month featured the beautiful [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Jessica Simpson[/lastfm] being pursued by Dane Cook at their job a local supermarket. The goal for the movie is to become Employee of the Month since it’s a real turn on for Jessica’s character. I’m assuming [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Nick Lachey[/lastfm] was the first Employee of the Month in her life… too bad he couldn’t keep the job.

[lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Usher[/lastfm] was riding high after the mega success of his album Confessions, so high that he probably didn’t read the script to this epic disaster. Only in this movie can DJ’ing and the Mafia be connected to an overall love story… well at least the ladies got to enjoy plenty of shirtless scenes from Mr. Raymond.

October 6th, 2004

This movie has got to be way on the top of [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Queen Latifah[/lastfm]‘s list of forgettable mistakes as the talented actress/rapper actually signed on to play a Nascar dreaming Taxi driver. That alone should have been a red flag for everyone… seriously. Come ON!

September 11th, 2001

Glitter started a series of failures for [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Mariah Carey[/lastfm] who eventually, due to her enormous talent, made maybe the biggest comeback in history with her album The Emancipation of Mimi. The movie may have been considered a failure but it did prove that only a true superstar can rise again from such folly back to the top.

October 26th, 2001

This movie was made during the height of [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]*NSYNC[/lastfm]‘s popularity so it’s easy to see why the movie was terrible since the group was just cashing in on their musical success. Lance Bass and Joey Fatone proved they were willing to take one for the team in this transit/romantic failure that is sure to make a great keepsake for the band’s superfans out there.

220px rollerball 20021 Top 10 Awful Movies Featuring Pop Artists#3 – Rollerball
February 8th, 2002

[lastfm link_type="artist_info"]LL Cool J[/lastfm] has shown he is a good actor in films but when it came to the decision to co-star in the film Rollerball, he also showed his inability to choose a good script. The film was a remake from 1975 and it was so disappointing that people tend to refer only to the original version – opposed to the most recent.

220px from justin to kelly1 Top 10 Awful Movies Featuring Pop Artists#2 – From Justin To Kelly
June 20th, 2003

This movie was made after the first American Idol competition that had the two stars [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Justin Guarini[/lastfm] and [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Kelly Clarkson[/lastfm] showcase their singing and hopeful acting talents. The film’s purpose seemed hardly worth it as the story was all over the place and just plain annoying. Honestly, the duo looked as if they were still in acting school while the movie was being shot.

August 1st, 2003

The worst of them all had to come from Ben Affleck and [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Jennifer Lopez[/lastfm] - better known at that time as “Bennifer” - as they pushed this atrocity onto our movie screens. The movie was so bad that it was pulled from theaters after only three weeks, making it one of the worst films of all time by box office standards.

Ok… come on Hollywood! Why do you hate us?
