Nicki Minaj returns to her Japanese style in the new video for her single Check It Out featuring Will.I.Am.

The video is filled with plenty of Japanese/Korean inspired fashion and words floating on the screen. Nicki, known as the “Harajuku Barbie”, puts her love for the culture on full display with [lastfm]Will.I.Am[/lastfm] providing the extra random effects we’ve grown to love from him with the [lastfm]Black Eyed Peas[/lastfm]. I wish there was more of an understanding for why every video featuring Will.I.Am he is seen doing something futuristic – it’s gotten to the point that he is too advanced for casual comprehension.

The video was directed by Mr. X and has random shots of the duo either standing on ceilings or just animated for no reason. I give this video a 7 out of 10 because it keeps your attention but at the same time you’re left confused with the random actions and Japanese themed scenes.

No matter how confused we are with everything Nicki does, expect her album Pink Friday to still be a hot item next month.
