Get ready for a one night stand with Chelsea Handler; for some reason, the comedienne/talk show host/author has been tapped to host this year’s MTV Video Music Awards.

Anyone have an explanation for this?

Fans who tune in to this year’s VMAs are in for a great show. Performances from this year’s biggest hit makers [lastfm]Justin Bieber[/lastfm], [lastfm]Kanye West[/lastfm], [lastfm]Drake[/lastfm] and [lastfm]B.o.B[/lastfm] have already been announced. Those young fellas, along with presenters like [lastfm]Ke$ha[/lastfm], [lastfm]Nicki Minaj[/lastfm], and Emma Stone should get along perfectly with Chelsea and will totally get her jokes about the Great Depression and just how dastardly the Kaiser was.

Seriously, I’m not sure if Chelsea (who insists that she’s 35-years-old, but looks more like one of my mom’s friends), is a good fit for the awards show, which is geared mostly towards people who don’t know who the **** she is.

Then again, I have no idea how many [lastfm]Justin Bieber[/lastfm] fans have read her books Chelsea Chelsea Bang Bang and Are You There, Vodka? It’s Me, Chelsea – so I could be completely off.

I guess we’ll have to just wait and see.
