Summer Beauty Must Have: Mineral SPF

Powder Puff Girl is protected...I’ve been totally obsessed with powdered SPF for a couple of years now, ever since Peter Thomas Roth‘s brand of beauty products debuted them.  Easy, compact and it doesn’t make you oily.  It’s pretty much the one thing that I don’t leave the house without in the summer months.  When I’m feeling the sun beat down on my almost translucent skin, I just take out my magical powder brush and instant SPF protection.  Added bonus to this stuff, that you can’t get from the liquid version: you can wear it over make-up without screwing up your handy work.

Up until now I’ve been pretty brand loyal to Roth, his brand was the first, even if others were soon to follow, I chose to give beauty credit where beauty credit was due.  Well, that’s changed.  Sorry Peter, I’m all over Bare Escentuals Brand Mineral SPF powder.  For one reason and one reason only: it comes in shades.

I tan at about the same rate as Nicole Kidman, so honestly Roth’s brand of monoshade SPF would still work for me, but I’ve definitely had friends with darker complexions that fared slightly worse with his powder.  Bare Escentuals, which just happens to be my standard brand of foundation, has the same sort of mineral SPF, but ones designed to go with different skin tones.  Light, Medium, Dark; so simple, yet so revolutionary.

Also, BE’s brand is cheaper, only a couple of bucks, but that $2 can go toward an iced coffee.

Mmm, iced coffee.
