Mmmmm Yogurt!Homemade Pinkberry!

Until Pinkberry and Red Mango (and if you’re on Staten Island, Yogurberry) came into my life I never really thought about plain frozen yogurt.  Plain yogurt has healthy written all over it and, generally, I like my frozen yogurt to have “I’m almost ice cream” written all over it.  Then those massive chain yogurtoriums appeared and my idea of fro-yo changed forever.

Cold, tart and only slightly sweet, covered in fruit and massively lacking in fat – it was a revelation, people.  It was also a serious bank account drain.  Those li’l suckers cost some big bucks… I mean it’s good, but it’s still only yogurt!

Well, imagine my surprise when I was drooling, I mean strolling my way through Trader Joe’s and stumbled across Nonfat Plain Frozen Yogurt.  The stuff tastes just as good as the PB variety, but for $3.49  for an entire quart, it’s way more economical.  Economical is good, because apparently the entire world is broke right now.  I brought my brand new tub o’yogurty goodness home and covered it with my own fruit concoction and voila! Pinkeberry-esque treat for a fraction of the price.

I feel like I’ve cheated the system without cheating on my diet.  I think I’ve found my new summer treat.
